Sri Venkateshwar International School Sector 18, Dwarka organized Science Fiesta

Sri Venkateshwar International School Sector 18, Dwarka organized Science Fiesta, an explosion of creative innovations for classes 6-10 on Saturday, August 20, 2016.

The mega event showcased projects and working models which were an amalgam of Domino’s effect-Rube Goldberg’s contraption, Rocketry, Robotics, Astronomical studies, Conservation, Alternate Energy Resources and also simple classroom experiments for supporting learning. Science is fun; Science is curiosity. This was the mantra for the day as young Einsteins and Kalams sharpened their skills of critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making as well as building self-confidence, stimulating curiosity and developing language skills.

A galaxy of recognized scientists interacted with the budding scientists.The esteemed dignitaries who graced the event included Dr Kannan Biotechnologist at IP University, Dr Gauhar Raza Physicist, Dr Selvam Material Science Expert at the Deptt of Science and Technology, Dr K K Tyagi Statistical Scientist at IARI, Dr Vinay Gupta, Scientist at NPL, Dr Hazare Nuclear Medicine Specialist, Dr Anita, Plant Biologist at DU.

The Chief Guest for the event Dr. Raza, a social activist and documentary filmmaker working to popularize the understanding of science among general public and Dr. Kannan, formally declared the fiesta open by the ribbon-cutting ceremony. They were accompanied by the School Chairman, Mr. Sailander Solanki, the School Principal Ms. Nita Arora and the Wing- Incharges.

In his address to the gathering of parents and students, Dr. Raza and Dr. Kannan stressed on the need for holistic development of children and an equal stress on academics and co-curricular activities. They emphasized on the importance of quantitative aptitude amongst our young learners today and that it has an important role to play in shaping their future.

The school witnessed a spurt of creativity and energy all around as the young students displayed their models and projects and benefitted from the appreciation and valuable advice from the dignitaries. The event left a deep impact on the young minds as it ignited the fire of curiosity in them to keep learning and keep innovating.

As a visitor aptly remarked “ After visiting the school today, I’m happy and reassured that India is in safe hands and so is our future.”
