A LESSON IN EMPATHY FOR SRI VIS STUDENTS

Social Work Club students of Sri VIS under the guidance of their Principal Mrs. Nita Arora and the Social Work Club In charge Ms. Radhika Mutreja have joined hands with Delhi Council of Child Welfare for reaching out to young boys and girls.

The NGO deals with treating handicapped , mentally retarded children, providing vocational training to women and also works as a day care centre for kids. The NGO also manufactures equipments for handicapped children and provides them at minimal prices.

The kids undergoing treatment come from distant areas. The students of Sri VIS interacted with the children of the NGO, donated clothes, stationery items and eatables.

The students could feel the sense of happiness that seem to prevail in the organisation irrespective of hardships faced by the special children. The spirit of optimism was well observed and the students could learn that instead of giving up, they could always find a way around them to be happy and self satisfied.

These children having disabilities proved to be a great influence on the psyche of the students .They understood the fact that happiness resides within us. We only have to tap our reserves.

The idea behind the visit was to instill the importance of community service in the students and to develop the spirit of empathy and compassion in students.
