The biggest musical rivalry commences on television with ‘Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai’

On the eve of International Women’s Day, a powerful drama, titled ‘Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai’ will bring forth the journey of strong-willed women of the Gaikwad family, starting March 7th, every Monday - Friday at 8.00 pm on &TV. Set against the backdrop of music, the show will see stalwarts from the television and Bollywood industry in character driven roles. While Amrita Rao makes her debut on television through this show, veterans like Deepti Naval, Zarina Wahab and Pallavi Joshi will be seen making a comeback after a long hiatus.

Produced by Nivedita Basu of House of Originals, Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai is a positive story about two sisters and their bitter sweet relationship that turns into rivalry. This is the positive story of Kalyani and Ketki, for whom music meant the world, who shared a soulful bond, drifted apart so much that the distances could not be fathomed. The story spans across three generations and traces the journey of the

two sisters from the beautiful town of Nagthane to Mumbai – the city of dreams! The only thread that binds these two warring sisters is their Mother – Devika Gaikwad. The character of Kalyani will be portrayed by child actor Jannat Zubair followed by Amrita Rao and Deepti Naval whereas the character of Kalyani will see child actor Mehnaz charm the audience with her innocence followed by Aditi Vasudev and Zarina Wahab. Pallavi Joshi will be seen as the soft-spoken yet a firm Devika, the mother of Kalyani and Ketki.

Speaking on why she chose this project as her debut on television, Bollywood actress Amrita Rao says, "Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai is a powerful story of two of the most illustrious singing sisters with varied dimensions. Every character is challenged with a terrific range. This show has the potential to have a strong lasting impression on the minds of the audience. I am happy that '&TV' has come up with a script that is not just character driven but also boasts of newness & freshness.”

Speaking about her excitement on working on this show, veteran actress Deepti Naval says, “I am elated to associate with this show. I am also very happy to see that television is evolving and audience is appreciative of meaningful content. Being a finite series, this show is being shot like a movie and the audience will be able to experience the final product soon.”

Speaking about her association with the show, veteran actress Zarina Wahab says, “I was very excited when &TV approached me for the show and it didn’t take me any time to say yes to the project. The treatment of the show is very different and a welcoming break from the regular shows on television.”

Speaking about sharing screen space with popular Bollywood actors, actress Aditi Vasudev says, “Deepti Naval is a name that I admired growing up. It feels wonderful to share the screen space with such talented actors all in one show. This is a show with Bollywood sensibilities so that’s new for the audience to watch.”
