5th B. K. Gupta Memorial Cricket Tournament held at BalBhavan International School

Vidyya Jain Public School, Rohini (Delhi), emerged champions of 5th B. K. Gupta Memorial Cricket Tournament conducted byBal Bhavan Group of Schools, which concluded at Bal Bhavan International School ground, Dwarka on Saturday. They defeated host team at home ground in the finals.In a high scoring game opting to bat first, Vidya Jain made a healthy 181 for four in the 20 overs.. The Vidya Jain’s CaptainMayankGosai over haul through his century and won the hearts of spectators. With six batsmen unbeaten, team was declared victorious by 8 wkt.

The presentation ceremony was witnessed by many dignitaries like Dr. RashmiSuleja (Governing Council Member of Pro Wrestling League and medical advisor at Ganga Ram Kolmet Hospital) and Sh. Anoop Singh (Paralympics coach and Dronacharya Awardee). Vidya Jain Public School, Rohini was awarded with the winning trophy as well as prizes worth Rs. 2,00,000. The school congratulated the team and their coach for the prodigious victory. Bal Bhavan Blue was awarded with the miraculous runner up trophy as well as prizes worth Rs. 1,40,000. Other participating teams also got exciting prizes. The tournament involved the high voltage and wild energy cricket matches and the final match was the most ferocious pace attack by the strong young contenders.

The Bal Bhavan team couldn’t chase the target of 182 runs and loss the finals at home ground but won many hearts. It was a very close match and after three long years home team lost the trophy with a true sports man spirit. The tournament was closed after displaying astounding cricket for 19 days, witnessed by the ground which was thoroughly entertaining and thrilling for the spectators. We wish the teams and players good luck for their future accomplishments.
