Conference on Tracking and Navigation for safe and more reliable public transport system in Delhi

Shri Arvinder Singh, the Transport Minister of Delhi, who is credited with the pioneering the use of GPS in public transport in Delhi, will address the first national conference starting 2nd February 2012, "Tracking and Navigation 2012, New Delhi", on vehicle tracking, fleet management and navigation technologies.

According to Shri Arvinder Singh, "There has been an increase in the commercial usage of GPS technologies for vehicle tracking and fleet management over the last few years", he further opined that, "It is important that GPS for vehicle tracking needs to be seen as an enabler for the government and private sector enterprise. The primary beneficiary is also the person driving the vehicle as it ensures his connectivity even in remote areas." On the ongoing initiative to have GPS in the public transport vehicles he further said, "The objective is to have safe and more reliable public transport system in Delhi for commuters."
