DWARKA - POLICE ASSURES ACTION AGAINST ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES

Anil Ojha, Dy. Commissioner of Police said that he knows the Dwarka area very well and in his view, the problem is more of social rather than crime infested.  Though, many issues like drug addiction and smack prima facie seem pertaining to police but these are in fact social issues and should be addressed socially too. The occasion was Police-Public meet at CCRT auditorium, Sector 7 on 12th April wherein A.K. Ojha, DCP, Raj Kumar, Traffic Inspector, Bhagwan Singh, Naresh Kumar and Suman Pushkarna, all SHOs took part. The meeting was attended by Vijay Lochav, Ex MLA, Rejimon, Sushil Kumar, Ashok Chaitanya of Dwarka Forum, Cicily Kodiyan of Neighbourehood Ladies, Robin Sharma, Traders Association, DP Vajpayee of Lok Kalyan Manch, S S Dogra & Sanjay of Dwarka Parichay and other officer bearers of Group Housing Societies and RWAs along with large number of residents. DCP said that the police will definitely take action against the violation of laws and on streetlights, they will also write to the concerned authorities. Already, security personnel in the form of security guards are present in large number and if they are made conscious, vibrant and given proper training, half the problems will solve. He said that any resident can meet him in his office to share problems adding if some crime is committed by servant provided by placement agency, police will also catch the agency as agencies takes the responsibility for such servants. He informed that such agencies are also required to keep proper records of such persons and asked the residents for not employing the underage domestic help as it violates the law.


Vijay Lochav raised the issue of cattle grazing and said that due to this, law and order problem arises and sometimes, the cows are also killed culminating communal tension.  DCP said that the police will try to tackle this with firm hand. Sushil Kumar, Secretary, Dwarka Forum raised the issue of servant and tenant verification and underlined the need to involve the managements of various CGHS’ and RWAs.  Mrs. Cicily Kodiyan raised the issue of theft of public property like light poles, iron fencing of parks and road dividers as well as of manhole covers.  DCP directed Bhagwan Singh, SHO to get the locked parking at Vardhaman CityPlaza open and SHO informed that the issue is already before him.  D P Vajpayee said that the back side of the DDA Pocket – I, Sector 6 is unpopulated and due to this, thefts take place in the pocket.  Similar complaint was made about the Airport society and was told that in a single night, 5 thefts took place there. He said residents caught one person and handed him over to the police but the further action in the case is not known.  DCP directed the police to look into the matter and said that issue will be sorted out.


J P Singh of Katyayani Society, Sector 6 said that the residents oppose the wine-shop at sector 6 which is near the school and in the mid of societies and requested for its closure. On this, DCP said that the matter will be taken up with the Excise Department.  Robin Sharma suggested to re-draw the points for police position while appreciating that the patrolling is now better. DCP assured to address the issue of alleged prostitution in sector 20, near the petrol pump and also assured of taking action against the encroachments while ruling out the patri bazaar and restart of vegetable market at Sector 6 again as further amounts to encroachment.  Mr. Ojha said that the suggestion to start parallel parking on the left side of road is good as it is in Yusuf Sarai and in some other areas and he will consider this seriously.  S.S.Solanki raised the issue of theft at sector 19 as the area is only 20% populated and due to the presence of large number of labour living unauthorizely in temporary built plots. He also informed that about 200-tax are parked at Mall and the DCP assured that if these taxies are not authorized to the parked there, action would be taken against this.  On the scarcity of police force, suggestion to use civil defence persons was also made. DCP was critical of the traffic at sector 7 passing through the service lane that causes inconvenience to the residents of the societies who uses this service lane. Mr. Shukla complained that in Sector 4, Bahawalpur Society, there were some thefts last year and the FIR were also lodged but the follow-up action is not known.

P S Singh of Rajasthan Apptts raised the issue of property dealers renovating the flats by first demolishing it entirely making the entire building structure weak.  Issue of fixing reflectors in Rikshaws, commercial activities in Metro View Apartments, Sector 13, Sanskriti Appartments, Sector 19 and other DDA Pockets were also raised. It was informed that such activities are undertaken beyond office hours to escape action.  Demand for Traffic Light between sector 13 and 14 was also made.
