Community Outreach Programme - Let’s make a difference

‘Everyone deserves happiness-sensitizing the Summer Camp Participants’

To create awareness and to make the young generation realize the bounties bestowed on them, S.V.I.S. conducted a Community Outreach Programme ‘Caring and Sharing’. Under this visits to Prerna Niketan Sangh Sec-3, Dwarka- a Centre for Physically Handicapped and Anugrah- School for under - privileged children was organized on 4th June and 8th June respectively. At Prerna Niketan Sangh, S.V.I.S. family donated grocery items, sewing machine and cash amount where as at Anugrah we served them lunch on that day, provided them with groceries for the mid-day meal programme, colouring material and stationery. The Community Outreach Programme are an intergral part of the school curriculum as we try to encourage the students to assume community responsibilities. S.V.I.S. is committed to adopt these centres and few others for sharing our resources and goodwill. We strongly believe that each little endeavour can bring a ray of smile in many lives. We appeal to readers to share the joys of birthdays of their near and dear ones with someone needing help and solace. The school will also celebrate Diwali, Children’s day, Christmas and New Year with the marginalized section of society.

No-Tobacco Day
World Health Organization declared 31st May as World No-Tobacco Day. Eco-Club of school in association with Orange-Cross involved the Summer Campers in spreading the message about the hazards of Tobacco consumption. The programme included:

• Pre-event talks
• Street play
• Feedback based on the questionnaire
• Pasting of No-Tobacco Day posters in some Govt. offices, District Court Sec-9, Dwarka, Police Station Sec-19, Dwarka

Here is a quick look on the statistics obtained from the survey which helped us to draw the following conclusion: majority were aware about the harmful effects of smoking and didn’t wish their children to take up the habit. Only smokers were apprehensive about being a possible role model and also showed an equal amount of confusion when posed the question- Whether it is possible to quit smoking. Others were quite sure that smoking is not desirable and if caught in the web, a smoker can quit with help of family and experts. But the urge to quit smoking has to come from within and this is where we were successful and almost everybody agreed to join the Anti-Tobacco Campaign.
