The students, teachers & intellectuals empowered with knowledge on 3rd day of DCLF

21st April’2017, Dehradun: The third day of the four-day long Dehradun Community Literature Festival witnessed some riveting sessions. The main highlight of the day was renowned author Devdutt Pattanaik. In the session, he highlighted the importance of Mahabharata, Ramayana and Hinduism. There was a huge turnout to listen to the bestselling author.

The day began with a session on ‘Ajeeb Shakhs Tha’ by Dr. Saif Mehmood and Pervaiz Alam. They discussed about Manto, feminism and Urdu poetry. Saif Mahmood is a New Delhi-based literary personality, Urdu poetry and literature expert, culturist, commentator, critic, translator and rights activist. Pervaiz Alam is a well-known Broadcast Journalist.

Pervaiz Alam read out the excerpts written by Indo-Pakistani writer and playwriter Saadat Hasan Manto during India Pakistan partition.

In the next session, Devdutt Pattanaik was seen in an engrossing conversation with Jujhar Singh. The topic of the session was ‘Decoding Devlok and Devdutt’. They had a conversation on Dharma, Karma and Devdutt.

Introducing the session, Jujhar Singh discussed various Karmas. He invited Devdutt Pattanaik to speak on Dharma, Karma & Moksh. Elaborating the meaning of mythology, Pattanaik stated that mythology is truth based on trust. As per him, Dharma, Karma & Moksh are based on faith. He added that mythology enables you to have relationship with others.

Speaking about scriptures, he said that Indian wisdom is based on conversation and not text. He believes that karma is the ecosystem of actions and reactions.

Addressing the audience, he said that in Indian mythology god is not a judge but an accountant. He added that there can be no justice without intention.

Closing the session, he advised the audience that at times some might be dependent or independent but in life it is essential to become dependable.

A session dedicated to the children was also conducted. Author Ranjit Lal, Santhini Govindan and Dr. Jonathan Long held a session on the topic ‘I want to hear a story’. They discussed the importance of children’s literature and storytelling. The session was moderated by Priyanka Bhattacharya.

This was followed by a session on ‘God & Me’ by Author Hindol Sengupta and Arundhathi Subramaniam. The session was moderated by Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Burman.

The concluding session of the third day was on ‘Indian Women’. Author Malavika Rajkotia and Maya Mirchandani spoke on gender equation underpinning the Indian society. Malavika Rajkotia is an Indian lawyer. She has been recognized as one of the country’s most successful and respected divorce lawyers. The session was moderated by Daleep Akoi, Nazia Yusuf Izzudin.

In the last Mr.S.S.Dogra-Senior Journalist & Managing Editor of Dwarka Parichay was the Guest Speaker from Delhi interacted with students, teachers, parents & Writers/Poets during 2nd Dehradun Community Literature Festival where shared his media experience & report/review on his latest book "Media Can Do Wonders in Students' Life". Mr. Dogra even revealed that this book contains basic knowledge about all media branches, the historical background of Media, Indian Media agencies, Abbreviation, Listing of Media Universities/Institutes. Media Quiz which may be very helpful for the students from Class VI to XII. This book is published by Maple Press and its is easily available on Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdea & PayTM too.

World Integrity Center India Dehradun and The World Integrity Foundation together with Madhuban Group and the Harvard Club of India are hosting the Second Edition of Dehradun Community Literature Festival 2017.
