School of Law, Ansal University, Gurgaon organised Panel Discussion on 'The Kashmir Issue: Why, How and The Way Forward' at Ansal University on October 20th,2016. The event had luminary speakers who threw light on historical, legal, diplomatic as well as military aspects towards solving this Kashmir issue.
The panel discussion on how, why and the way forward on Kashmir issue was Chaired by Hon'ble Mr. Justice A.M. Ahmadi former Chief Justice of India. Event witnessed presence of some greatest luminaries such as Dr. Aman Hingorani, Ambassador Asoke Mukherjee, Brigadier M.B. Anand along with Dean School of Law, Prof.(Dr.) Sanoj Rajan.
Dr. Aman Hingorani author of the book "Unravelling the Kashmir Knot" explained, how the roots of the Kashmir formation trace back to the days when Britain wanted to create a northern frontier to create a buffer area between itself and Russia. He further explained the legal aspects both national and international relevant to Kashmir.
Brigadier M.B Anand threw lights on the role of the military of India in resolving this issue.
Justice Ahmadi was of the view that since plebiscite is not an option today, the only way forward to resolve the Kashmir issue was to make the legal reference to the ICJ in terms of the book authored by Dr. Hingorani.
Ambassador Asoke Mukerjee also too agreed with the proposal to make the legal reference to the ICJ as the first step to change the current political discourse on Kashmir issue
