Vishwa Yuvak Kendra (VYK) organized l training programme on ‘Fund Raising’

This is the fact that fundraising is the lifeline activity for any NGO, yet it is the most challenging task for us all. This is because there are so few resources available and too many seekers reaching them out. In such cases, only organizations that are competitive, responsive and creative succeed. But to be competitive, responsive and creative, it is important to become professional enough. Professionalism is about applying high business tactics to survive the growing competition all over the world.

Nonprofit fundraising is becoming increasingly challenging and volatile owing to mushrooming of NGO’s, changes in the criteria being used by the donors, increasingly selective specific measurable outcomes or impact, innovation in good ideas on problem solving (cutting edge) programmes/ initiatives that fit into their own programmes, requisite transparency and accountability.

Taking the above ground realities into account Vishwa Yuvak Kendra (VYK) organized a four day national level residential training programme on ‘Fund Raising’ during 21 to 24 June 2016 at its Office premises, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The programme attracted a healthy participation by the senior and midldle-level 65 representatives of 50 grass root NGOs, CSOs and non-profit organizations belonging to 12 states and UTs of India comprised of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Delhi-NCR. All the lodging and boarding facilities were provided with the participants by VYK at the hostel of its office premises.

All the trainees were imparted excellent training on fund raising through the eminent resource persons and seasoned professionals called from renowned national and International developmental organizations, donor agencies, and leading corporate groups. The key resource persons other than VYK’s senior officials who addressed the trainees on diversified areas of fund raising by the NGOs during the tenure of the training programme include.

Mr. Karthik Ayer, Deputy Head, Strategic partnership, Charities Aid Foundation,
Mr. Arun Thangapandian, Manager – Fund Raising Operation, Save The Children,
Ms. Yasmin Riaz, National Head, SOS India, Ms. Sandhya, Senior Manager-Institutional Tie-up, Action Aid India,
Ms. Geetanjali Gaur, Programme Executive (CSR), National Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility (NFCSR), Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) and
Ms. Susan Verghese, Head, Global Operation, CRY- Child Rights & You.

This programme was well appreciated by all the participants for its course contents. They assured to utilize the learning and knowledge attained during the programme towards raising the fund for their respective organizations in order to scale up the existing as well as new developmental programmes in operational areas.
