TUSHAR LAKHANPAL- GUINNESS WORLD RECORD FOR PENCIL COLLECTION

A Young Delhi boy Tushar Lakhanpal, 17 has a collection of more than 18,000 pencils, one of the highest in the world. He plans to get his collection recorded in the GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS for the year 2015-16.

The current Guinness record is held by Uruguayan based Emilio Arenas with collection of 16,260 pencils

As Desired by Guinness, a team consisting of a senior representative from Pencil Manufacturing company and a renowned person from the society will be inspecting and certifying the collection for World record as per programme

Indian Teenager eyes the Guinness Records for his pencil collection of over 18,000 pencils

Tushar Lakhanpal, a 17 year old Indian teenager from New Delhi has been collecting pencils since he was 3. He used to put away pencils that he would receive as gifts and was particular in collecting pencils of different kinds. This habit soon turned into a passionate hobby which was encouraged by his family and friends.

Uruguayan Emilio Arenas is the current holder of the Guinness record with collection of 16,260 pencils . Presently Tushar has collection of more than 18,000 pencils .

At the age of 15, he had amassed over 14,000 pencils in varying shapes and sizes from over 40 countries. His collection includes pencils of various sizes, the smallest being 3 cms as well as a pencil of 8ft 3in long. Clutch pencils, colour pencils, scented pencils, pencils with different caps and figures, wooden pencils, handmade paper pencils, recycled newspaper pencils are all a part of his impressive and fascinating collection.

His collection has been featured in the Limca Book of Records since 2009, 2010, 2012 and this record has remained unbeatable.

With an ambition to make a pencil museum and display his collection to the society, Tushar is working overtime to enhance his collection to be featured in the Guiness Book of Records. Currently with over 18,500 unique pencils in his kitty, he is confident of surpassing the current world record of 16,260 pencils.

His pencil collection also includes spoon-shapes, studded pencils, thermometer pencils, a 24-carat gold designer pencil and more. He also has a variety of Swarovski-studded pencils. Another is painted in 22 karat gold and there are two others that were once used by the Queen of England. “These two are the most precious and close to my heart in my collection,” says the Class 12 student. Tushar loves to share the extra pencils from his collection with young children, from all walks of life, who find them extremely useful and cherish them as a treasure.
