SVIS joins in the Celebrations at the British High Commission

The School Principal Ms Nita Arora was part of the elite group of invitees on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth’s Birthday Celebrations on February 26, 2015, hosted by the British High Commissioner, Sir James Bevan KCMG & Lady Bevan.

The traditional welcome to the sound of the bagpipes added to the celebratory proceedings. The event marked the significance of three anniversaries. The first anniversary was the 200 year old service of the Gorkhas with the British army and to honour the same, the notes by the regimental band of the Gorkha Brigade and the Khukri dance by them set the commemorative spirit. The second anniversary was the signing of Magna Carta, 800 years ago. And the third was the accession of the Queen to the throne which marked the resplendence of the event.

The School Principal congratulated Lady Bevan and sent a personalised message through her to the Queen on behalf of the SVIS family. The event provided a forum to have a tete-a –tete with Ms Tara Gandhi Bhattacharya, the illustrious granddaughter of Mahatama Gandhi, who was appreciative in acknowledging the global outreach of SVIS.

The perceptible joie de vivre was evident as the event was a platform to exchange and share knowledge and culture amongst the chosen attendees with people from across the globe. The commemoration provided an opportunity to SVIS to organise a workshop, later in the year, with Chevenings for students intending to study abroad.
