Sexuality In Ancient Mythology

Dr KK Aggarwal
Padma Shri and Dr B C Roy National Awardee
President, Heart Care Foundation of India

1. Both sexuality and spirituality have been mentioned in mythology to prevent HIV and sexually transmitted diseases. An educational art was created at Khajuraho which talks about "multiple positions with one are better than one position with many."

2. Asexual reproduction – Lord Ganesha’s birth from the skin of Goddess Parvati represents a form of asexual reproduction using pluripotent cells.

3. The birth of Kartikay from Shiva can be linked to success story of in vitro fertilization. Shiva throws away white sparks (semen) in the air (centrifugation), they fell down in river (petri dish) become five petal flower (5 cell zygote) adopted by local Kartikayan girls (in vitro fertilization) and Kartikay was born.

4. Artificial insemination of semen was well described in mythology. The birth of Dashrath’s children, Hanuman all were probably examples of the same.

5. Sexuality and spirituality are opposite to each other. No Tirath Sthan is ever used as honeymoon place.

6. Bull or Nandi represents sexual desires and is always placed outside Shiva Mandir. You cannot enter a spiritual place without sexual desires on.

7. Polygamy was the need of the day at that time as is evident by three wives of Dashrath and five husbands of Draupadi.

8. Santoshi Mata Ka Vrat was created to prevent iron deficiency anemia in child bearing age ladies. They were made to eat Gur (iron) and Chana (protein) every week to prevent recurrent abortions and death by anemia.

9. Ashrams were created in mythology as part of discipline. Brahmcharya was the period for education and Grihastha for active sexual reproductive life.

10. Dharma Artha Kama Moksha were the four purposes of life which meant earning money righteously to fulfill all our desires which leads to inner happiness.

11. Sex education at that time was through sculptures.

12. The Science of Kamasutra was the classical textbook which promoted sexual hygiene.

13. True love was symbolized by Meera–Krishna and Radha–Krishna.

14. Marriages were not solemnized in Chaturmaas as during this period the mind is always in a negative state with more chances of divorce.

15. The marriage months have been the month of Maagh, Vaishakh and Kartik. These are spontaneous months with increased fertility.

16. To enhance fertility Shahi snans were advocated which involve exposure to sun so that vitamin D deficiency can be avoided.

17. Marriage seasons used to start with Tulsi Vivah which meant that Shyama Tulsi seeds are good for fertility and make the semen thick.

Sandip Soparrkar found himself in Samba-Bihu fusion Dance Controversy

Abhishek Dubey

Internationally acclaimed dancer choreographer Sandip Soparrkar is always surrounded with controversies, last was regarding his performance at the Royal wedding in London and dating Britney Spears during choreographing her Music Video Womenizer. Each time the nibble footed dancer steps on the floor it creates ripples world over, this time too Sandip Soparrkar found himself surrounded with yet another controversy. Sandip Soparrkar and his team of dancers were in Guwahati, Assam to dance for Rohhit Verma fashion show. The creative dancer choreographer mixed live Bihu music and song and danced the traditional Brazilian Samba to it. Little did he realise that this fusion dance which he created did not go down well with a few cultural organisations in Assam. There were people on the streets asking for an apology from the organisers and the choreographer for hurting and insulting Assamese culture with such a fusion.

The local people ripped the Samba- Bihu Fusion apart calling it Bollywood dance and saying it was disrespectful to the North East Indian culture. The controversy and anger of people grew even more when Sandip Soparrkar refused to give an apology for what he had created. Sandip Soparrkar said “My dance was a blend of authentic Bihu Music and traditional Samba dance, i did not change the bihu music to fit samba dance nor did i change samba dance to fit into bihu music, they both were used in its pure form, they just blended in so well, it was not a bollywood dance at all like some people are saying.”

Looks like Sandip Soparrkar's efforts to take Bihu globally were not taken well with the people of Assam and it will be long before his efforts will be recognised by the cultural police.

DWARKA SECTOR 3 LAND FOR PROPOSED MARKET IS TURNING INTO A BIG DUMPING GROUND. AND MOSQUITO'S BREEDING

"Residents of Sector 3, pocket 1 and 2, Dwarka are facing problems due to the garbage menace in Sector 3 Land for proposed market.There are many open spaces in this area which are turning into dumping grounds, causing lot of trouble for the residents. They have to put up with mosquitoes,flies, cow dung, and dogs menace besides bad odour and other health hazards. We are seeing it in same condition for the last about 10 years and now piles of garbage have accumulated with boundary wall of sector 3 pocket 1 and 2, Dwarka. Residents have to brave the stench while walking around sector 3. Animals and dogs hound the place due to leftover food dumped here.” The whole ground is turning into a garbage dumping ground but nobody is caring.

The residents of nearby areas are oblivion to the fact that such an act is creating an unhygienic atmosphere in the area especially for the sector 3 , residents.The plot in Sector 3 is just opposite to Rescue hospital.

The sector 3 vacant plot is frequently being used as garbage dumping spot making the whole area unhygienic. Some people come and burn the wires in open space leaving harmful smoke for the residents. In the morning and evening time one can see people easing in open ground along the boundary walls and it has become difficult for the residents to even sit on this side of the flats. Foul smell, mosquitoes and flies have made the area unhygienic and civic agencies despite being aware of the problem are doing nothing in this direction DDA is also not doing anything and perhaps have forgotten about this plot of land

The problem has become regular as nobody is maintaining the plot which is full of garbage. People have started throwing garbage on the footpath as well. Civic agencies should take the subject seriously and control garbage dumping here in the vacant plot by making a high boundary wall without any open space so that no one can not enter in it. "No matter how much we try to keep the area clean, the practice of throwing garbage continues.

What makes Japan Great........ Lessons from the Japanese after the Tsunami!!

What makes Japan Great
An eye opener for present day people. Above all, there is no religion to guide them to be amongst the most honest, disciplined, educated, courteous, prosperous, humble, consciously clean and developed society of the world. There are over 30,000 Japanese above the ages of 100 in 2010, and there are the fewest number of Policemen per person to control crime.

Know beautiful Information about Japan

1 - Did you know that Japanese children clean their schools every day for a quarter of an hour with teachers, which... led to the emergence of a Japanese generation who is modest and keen on cleanliness.

2 - Did you know that any Japanese citizen who has a dog must carry bag and special bags to pick up dog droppings. Hygiene and their eagerness to address cleanliness is part of Japanese ethics.

3 - Did you know that hygiene worker in Japan is called "health engineer" and can command salary of USD 5000 to 8000 per month, and a cleaner is subjected to written and oral tests!!

4 - Did you know that Japan does not have any natural resources, and they are exposed to hundreds of earthquakes a year but do not prevent her from becoming the second largest economy in the world? -

5 - Did you know that Hiroshima returned to what it was economically vibrant before the fall of the atomic bomb in just ten years?

6 - Did you know that Japan prevents the use of mobile in trains, restaurants and indoor

7 - Did you know that in Japan students from the first to sixth primary year must learn ethics in dealing with people -

8 - Did you know that the Japanese even though one of the richest people in the world but they do not have servants. The parents are responsible for the house and children -

9 - Did you know that there is no examination from the first to the third primary level; because the goal of education is to instill concepts and character building, not just examination and indoctrination. -

10 - Did you know that if you go to a buffet restaurant in Japan you will notice people only eat as much as they need without any waste. No wasteful food.

11 - Did you know that the rate of delayed trains in Japan is about 7 seconds per year!! They appreciate the value of time, very punctual to minutes and seconds

12 -. Did you know that children in schools brush their teeth (sterile) and clean their teeth after a meal at school; They maintain their health from an early age -

13 - Did you know that students take half an hour to finish their meals to ensure right digestion When asked about this concern, they said: These students are the future of Japan

After the terrible earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan here are some things the world should learn from them.

10 things to learn from japan-

1. THE CALM -Not a single visual of chest-beating or wild grief. Sorrow itself has been elevated.

2. THE DIGNITY -Disciplined queues for water and groceries. Not a rough word or a crude gesture.

3. THE ABILITY -The incredible architects, for instance. Buildings swayed but didn't fall.

4. THE GRACE -People bought only what they needed for the present, so everybody could get something.

5. THE ORDER -No looting in shops. No honking and no overtaking on the roads. Just understanding.

6. THE SACRIFICE -Fifty workers stayed back to pump sea water in the N-reactors. How will they ever be repaid?

7. THE TENDERNESS -Restaurants cut prices. An unguarded ATM is left alone. The strong cared for the weak.

8. THE TRAINING -The old and the children, everyone knew exactly what to do. And they did just that.

9. THE MEDIA -They showed magnificent restraint in the bulletins. No silly reporters. Only calm reportage.

10. THE CONSCIENCE -When the power went off in a store, people put things back on the shelves and left quietly.

Sentenced to be raped

“Enjoy the girl and have fun”. With this single sickening sentence, the head of a khap panchayat ordered men to gang rape a girl whose only crime was falling in love. Let's make this a turning point in the wave of violence making West Bengal the gang rape capital of India.

CM Mamata Banerjee has removed the police boss who failed to arrest the rapists, but alone, it is not enough. Today Banerjee will have the country's media all around her as she opens the Kolkata Book Fair. Let's create a massive public call for a comprehensive policy to protect women, and help introduce a 'Womanifesto' to end the violence.

We did it in Delhi, now we can do it in West Bengal. But time is short -- we can't miss this chance to create a public storm. Let’s help Banerjee direct her powerful presence to put in place a system of training and enforcement that can stop the rape epidemic in her state. Click below to join the call -- when 50,000 of us sign, we’ll take the message straight to her during the Book Fair in the next few days:

Sign for the cause

The brutal attack was ordered when a village council hit the victim with a fine she could not afford. Her punishment was announced as she knelt, bound and terrified, at the feet of her attackers. Twelve men from the village, men she called kaka and dada, wasted no time in carrying out the sentence.

This shocking crime is part of a crisis spiralling out of control. Just last week a fitness centre employee was gang-raped in a moving vehicle in the heart of Kolkata. And as the world welcomed a new year, a teenage girl was burned alive by her tormentors, who were raping her for the second time after she reported an earlier attack to police.

So far Mamata Banerjee's administration has been characterised largely by denial, conspiracy theories and counter-accusations. But her response to this case is a sign that we can reach her -- now let’s get Banerjee to extend her protection to all the women of West Bengal, sending a strong signal across India before this year’s elections.

Sign for the cause

From Morocco to the Maldives, the Avaaz community has been taking action to end violence against women and girls around the world. In India, Avaaz has been asking for public education against sexual violence since the horrific Delhi gangrape and murder in December 2012. Inspirational heroes all over the country are fighting an epidemic of violence, and our community can stand with them in this fight.

With hope and determination,

Meredith, Patri, Dalia, Bert, Alice, Ricken and the rest of the Avaaz team

NEW CRIMES, NEW VICTIMS, HUMAN RIGHTS VIS-À-VIS THE EXISTING CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM.

Rajendra Dhar
POLICE WATCH INDIA (Regd. NGO).

More recently, the entire rights issue has been complicated by an upsurge of less traditional crimes, which has brought with it new classes of victims.

Such offences as consumer frauds, economic frauds, property related frauds, over charging, adulteration, environmental pollution and rampant corruption victimize large groups of people, rather than individuals. Trafficking in illicit drugs, many forms of racketeering and fraud against the State have been called "victimless crimes". All organized crimes should compulsorily be booked & tried under MOCOCA.

Even when the victims are clearly visible, such as those caught up in trafficking for sexual exploitation and forced labour, child abuse, frauds by builders etc., a new set of rights may be needed. Both victims and offenders may be trapped in foreign countries, stymied by language problems, cultural differences and other obstacles hindering their rights.

Trafficked women or migrant victims of smuggling rings may feel particularly threatened, since they could be treated as illegal prostitutes and/or immigrants and denied protection or other victims' services. Because of their illegal status, victims may be afraid to report any crimes against them to law enforcers.

In some countries, legal authorities may give key witnesses immunity. This boosts the chances of a successful prosecution, which would itself deter illegal trafficking.

Promising immunity may not be enough, however, for victims or witnesses of organized crime who fear retaliation if they testify. Some nations have set up witness protection programmes, which may offer new identities after the trial, but these are costly. Experimenting with less expensive methods, such as anonymous testimony, is urgently needed.

Presently the HUMAN RIGHTS are heavily loaded in favour of the offenders/criminals which are acting against humanity at large as they are leading to lesser & lesser convictions thereby endangering the already fragile fabric of civilized living.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEMS AROUND THE WORLD VARY, BUT MANY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING RIGHTS FOR OFFENDERS:

Rights of offenders:
The right not to be subject to arbitrary arrest, detention, search or seizure;
The right to counsel;
The presumption of innocence;
The standard of proof;
The right to a public trial by an independent court;
The right to test the prosecution evidence;
The right to give and call evidence;
The right to appeal.

ALTHOUGH THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY AGREED IN THE 1985 UN VICTIMS' DECLARATION ON THE FOLLOWING RIGHTS FOR VICTIMS BUT THE SAME ARE YET TO BE IMPLEMENTED BY MOST OF THE COUNTRIES INCLUDING INDIA:

Rights of victims:
The right to be treated with respect and recognition;
The right to be referred to adequate support services;
The right to receive information about the progress of the case;
The right to be present and give input to the decision-making;
The right to counsel;
The right to protection of physical safety and privacy;
The right to compensation both from the offender and the State.

WHAT THE CRIME VICTIMS HAVE TO SAY - IN BRIEF:

"I was the victim, not the State! Why didn't anyone consult me?"

"When I became a victim, I believed in justice but awoke to the reality of crime, rights of criminals and injustice for victims."

"To be a victim is an unforgettable nightmare but to become a victim at the hands of the criminal justice system is an unforgivable travesty."

"Somewhere along the way, the criminal justice system began to serve lawyers, judges and defendants. Victims are treated with institutionalised disinterest. The neglect of crime victims is a national disgrace."

"How can justice be obtained by hearing "the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth" when the victims or surviving victims' families are not heard?"

"Now is the time to restore balance to the criminal justice system."

"Our forefathers would be amazed to learn that in these days, criminal defendants have not only the rights outlined in the constitution, but a myriad of other procedural protections which have tipped the scales of justice drastically out of balance."

“In the prevailing Criminal Justice System victims of crime are the only losers.”

"Since the victim was routinely present and heard during criminal trials in that day, the Constitutional authors likely saw no need to include rights for victims."

Everybody should understand the ground reality that “anybody & everybody” can be “a victim of crime” at times irrespective of any cause, reason, consideration etc.

IF WE REALLY WANT TO CURB CRIME & CONTROL CRIMINALS AS WELL AS PEOPLE HAVING CRIMINAL TENDENCIES WE WILL HAVE TO DO AWAY WITH THE DICTUM THAT “THE ACCUSED IS INNOCENT TILL PROVED GUILTY” ESPECIALLY IN CASES WHERE PRIMA FACIE EVIDENCE AGAINST THE ACCUSED IS AVAILABLE ON RECORD.
