In Dwarka - for less distance, auto fare is cheaper than Rikshaw

In Dwarka, the Rikshaw pullers demand unjustified amounts. Yesterday, I, along with my wife, have to go from Akashardham Apptt. to DDA Post Office market, Sector 6. Two Rikshaws were there, one asked Rs. 60/- and another gave discount of Rs. 10 by agreeing for Rs. 50/-. On our offer of Rs.30/-, they flatly refused. We stopped an auto and its driver offered to charge by metre reading. The fare came to just Rs. 35, distance - 3.3 Kilometre. Took less time, more secure and saved from scorching Sun that was before after noon yesterday. From this experience, really felt that the value of rupee is steeply going down.

Dwarka really needs inter-sector transport system and the DTC should run small vehicles like the one being run by the DMRC for this. The experiment with full sized buses has failed few years ago. Small sized vehicles running cost will be less with higher frequency and speed and more apt to negotiate at sharp turns, on congested and small roads.
