Induction Programme kicks off at Apeejay School of Management (ASM)

Apeejay School of Management (ASM), one of the global thought leaders in Business Education started a two-week induction programme for the 20th batch of PGDM and 5th PGDM (IB) at its campus from 11th June 2012. The programme aims at orienting the students towards the rigors and expanse of management education through business games, experiential learning, film shows, and group activities.

The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Anurag Batra, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief, and Exchange4Media, who was also the Chief Guest. Dr. Alok Saklani, Director, Apeejay School Management welcomed the students and shared the vision, mission, heritage, traditions and culture of teaching-learning at the campus. He also stated that management education at Apeejay would prepare the students for a fulfilling career as well as their role in the community.

Prof. Ashok Ogra, Director, Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, talked about how the scenario has unfolded in the last two decades since Apeejay School of Management was founded. He inferred from the major events of last two decades that uncertainty is new certainty and management is all about taking cues from the past and present while preparing for the future. He also emphasized that the management students should inculcate the spirit of being a team player just as mid-fielders in soccer.


The primary focus of the programme is to talk about the program brass-tacks and highlight the values such as discipline, creativity, humility, hard work and integrity that management students should inculcate in order to be successful in both professional as well as personal lives.

Mr. Anurag Batra encouraged the students to develop a passion for learning and doing. He also urged the young students to follow their dreams. He emphasized the need of knowing through any media such as books, internet, travelling, exploration and interaction with intellectually stimulating people.

During the first week of induction, students were exposed to ice-breaking session, creative thinking, leadership, trust building, working in teams, observation and listening skills, conflict resolution and negotiation skills, etc. Besides, they had an interactive session with an alumnus Mr. Sachin Phartiyal, General Manager, Organized Retail, Whirlpool. A film on Gandhi was also screened for the students.

In the second week of the induction programme, the students would be exposed to fundamentals of accounting, economics, quantitative techniques, and information technology. Students will also have an opportunity to interact with entrepreneurs.
