New Office Bearers of SCAD elected

The Senior Citizens Association, Dwarka (SCAD) is a registered body and a Member of Confederation of Senior Citizens Associations of Delhi. The SCAD has enrolled about twelve hundred members with many more keen to associate themselves with this body.

The AGM of the Association was held on 16th Oct 2011 at Conference Hall of DAV School, Sector- 6, Dwarka. There was overwhelming response and over two hundred fifty members actively participated in the meeting.

Shri SP Roy, President of the Association, welcomed the members and Shri Balbir Singh Yadav, General Secretary presented in brief the Activities Report of the SCAD.

The Association actively participates and represents Dwarka in World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, observed annually on 15 June. On 14th June 2011 on the eve of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day organized by HelpAge India, a team of five members including President and Gen Secretary of the Association participated in the discussions.

On 01.10.2011, on the occasion of International Elders Day, 150 Members of SCAD led by Gen Sec Balbir Singh Yadav participated in Walkathon organized at India Gate(6.00AM to (9.00AM) jointly organized by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, GOI and HelpAge in association with SCAD. Shri Mukul Wasnik, Union Minister addressed the Sr Citizens. T-Shirt with Cap and sweets packet were distributed to participants.

It is unfortunate that Dwarka has not been provided any place for social activities of the elderly. For the last two years the Association has been pursuing the matter with the Govt authorities viz Chief Minister and Social Welfare Ministers of Delhi Govt, MLA s and MCD Councilors of area, DDA etc. But there have been only assurances so far.

The Association has been pursuing the case with Union Health Minister and other authorities to enhance quality of Health Care in CGHS Wellness Centre in Dwarka by providing services of Specialists. Only Specialist Physician visits Dwarka, that too once a week which is inadequate.

The Association has been holding Free Health check up camps at Dwarka with the support of HelpAge India and prominent hospitals Sharp Sight Medfort, Columbia Asia, Bhagat Chandra, Fortis etc in different locations of Dwarka. This activity has been appreciated by the residents of Dwarka. The SCAD acknowledges with thanks the support of above agencies.

The majority of Sr Citizens of Dwarka are professionals with vast experience in Government, Public and Private enterprises. With their support and guidance the SCAD aims to achieve objectives like Recreation Space and facilities, Home for the Elderly, Medical facilities from Government & Private Hospitals, Ambulance facilities etc.

To ensure security of the elderly the Association has already sent a list of about six hundred senior citizens to Police with details of telephone numbers, address etc and action is in hand to forward the details of the remaining.
