SUKH DUKH KE SATHI SANSTHA, DWARKA CELEBRATED ITS ANNUAL FUNCTION

“Sukh Dukh Ke Sathi Sanstha”, Zone-VII (Sector 20, 21, 22 &23 Dwarka) organized its third annual function on Sunday, the 18th September 2011, in community Hall of Dream Apartments, Sector-22, Dwarka. In the inaugural address, the President of the Sanstha Shri Vijay Shankar Singh welcomed the Chief Guest Shri Rajesh Gehlot, Ex-Dy. Mayor MCD & member DDA and other distinguished guests. Shri Prem Chandra, Dy Director (Horitculture); Shri Bhagwan Singh, SHO, Police Station, Dwarka Sector-23; other senior officers of DDA, MCD and Presidents of other social organizations e.g. Reji Mon, President Dwarka Forum; Smt Cicily Kodean, President Association of Neighborhood Ladies Get-Together and Shri U.N.B. Rao, Chairman Urvi Vikram Charitable Trust were present on the occasion. The Sanstha had successfully organized two such zonal get-together programmes prior to this function, one during September 2010 and the other during January 2011.


The President explained that primary aim of the Sanstha is to have close interaction among likeminded people and to extend their co-operation and participation in SUKH-DUKH of co-members and also to actively participate in developmental activities of the zone. The Sanstha members meet every day in the park adjacent to Maneesh Mall Sector-22, after morning walk-cum-yoga at a convenient time and interact with each other for better understanding. On second Sunday of every month in the morning, a get-together is organized with tea and snacks and various important issues and activities are discussed within larger group of the members. Birthdays of the members falling in the month, are also celebrated.

The vice-President Shri SPS Chauhan informed in his address that the Sanstha have organized seven tree plantation programmes in parks of sector 22 and 23 during current monsoon season, with the help of Dy. Director Horticulture and his staff. So far, about 500 trees/shrubs have been planted. He also gladly informed that the members of the Sanstha and their families, including children, are also nurturing the plants and more than 90% of the plants are surviving well. He also informed that the Sanstha members have also recently undertaken the work of filling pits/holes in few by-lanes/side roads of the societies, which were being ignored by the concerned civic authorities since a long time for unknown reasons.


The Secretary of the Sanstha Shri SC Chawla presented a detailed account of various activities carried out by the Sanstha during the last one year. He informed that till January 2011, the strength of the Sanstha was 101 and now it is 135, an increase of 35%. He also informed that half of its members are very active and attend all the meetings and functions of the Sanstha regularly. On this occasion, he appealed all the like-minded residents of Zone-VII to join the Sanstha as member. He also informed that most of the Sasntha members have retired from senior positions of the Government/Public/ Private Sectors and are highly experienced in their respective fields. The members of the Sanstha extend their full co-operation and participation in promotion of better sanitation, development and upkeep of parks and street lights, improvement of law order situation and various other social activities.

The audience were also apprized of other activities and achievements of the Sanstha and it was heartening to note that the continuous efforts of the Sanstha members in general and co-ordination of Capt SS Mann with various Government Departments in particular, yielded positive results and the park adjacent to Maneesh Mall in Sector-22, where the members generally meet, was declared the best maintained park among “upto 5 acre” category. This achievement generated lot of enthusiasm among the members and the Sanstha pledged to make the Zone-VII a green hub. The Sanstha celebrated “World Environment Day” also on 5th June 2011 by planting various trees and conducting a painting competition of children with a get-together, in the same park. Regarding the problems, suggestions and timely implementation of various projects, the Sanstha maintains regular liaison and correspondence with senior officers of DDA, MCD, Delhi Police, Deptt of Horticulture and BSES etc. The media work of the Sanstha is being handled by Shri P.B. Mishra, a retired officer of BSF, who has also started putting up the updates and photographs of the Sasntha on its facebook account, until a proper website is launched voluntarily by someone, in the wake of lack of funds with the Sanstha.

Apart from own activities, the members of the Sanstha also participated and contributed their suggestions in various programmes of the social organization Urvi Vikram Trust viz. “Lecture-cum-workshop” organized by an association of Nature Lovers, “Interaction with children and grand parents” and “Seminar on Road Safety”. One of the tree plantation and road cleaning programme was also sponsored by State Bank of Tranvancore, Sector-22, Dwarka.


During winter season, the Sanstha distributed woolen blankets to poor children. Some members distributed food packets, fruits, biscuits, chocolates and toffees etc. Two of our members, Lt. Col. P.C. Chaudhary and Shri A.K. Raina, have also taken up the work of pruning of trees/shrubs voluntarily in our Zone and this work is in progress. While explaining some more achievements and future programmes of the Sanstha, Shri Shashi Kapoor of Dream Apartments, Secto-22, informed that in next winter season the Sanstha has planned to distribute usable old clothes, shoes, utensils etc to poor people and urged that anybody desirous to contribute in this noble cause may deposit such items with him. Towards the end of the programme, the Sanstha facilitated their senior most members, Shri Ram Pyare, aged about 95 years and Dr. R.D. Parashar, aged above 84 years. Both of these members are maintaining very good health and they actively participate in the activities of the Sanstha.

The Chief Guest Shri Rajesh Gelhot, in his address, briefed about various projects being undertaken in Dwarka and Zone-VII in particular. He also discussed various points raised by the audience about civic problems of the area. The invited guests Mrs. Cicily Kodean, President of ANLGT, Shri Reji Mon President of Dwarka Forum and Mrs Pravesh Sehrawat, President of BJP Mahila Morcha of the area, also spoke on the occasion and gave useful suggestions. Shri Gehlot promised to consider the suggestions carefully and to give full support in solving the problems. SHO Shri Bhagwan Singh also briefed about the action taken for maintaining law & order situation in the zone and discussed the points raised by the members.

During the discussion, Capt SS Mann requested the Chief Guest to use his good offices for expediting action on following issues pending with various Government organizations :

a) Proper and regular maintenance of existing street light system in Sector 22 & 23, which is very poor at the present.

b) Installation of proper lighting system in the electric poles which are without fitment items as yet.

c) Installation of traffic lights at sector 21, junction of sector nine Metro Statation and inter-section of sector 22/23, Sadhbhawna Aptt/Paramount International School.

d) Provision of Dust Bins, Rain Sheds, Benches and Red Sand on walk ways in all parks of sector 22/23.

e) Cleaning of inner roads, by-lanes and vacant plots of Sector 22/23.

f) Incomplete and improper work for providing more ground space for the roots of trees, on the foot paths.

The function concluded in joyful and cordial environment with vote of thanks given by the convener of the Sanstha, Shri DC Mathur.
