Office of the Registrar of Co-operative Societies and the Delhi Development Authority should come under the purview of Service Guarantee Bill as there is a wide spread corruption and inefficiency in these two departments, demanded A B  Bardhan, M.P. in the facilitation function held on 4th Sept by the Association of Suffering Members of CGHS.  He also said that the public has extended so much support to the campaign led by Shri Anna Hazare as they were fed up with the mounting corruption.  He called upon Ashok Kumar, Convener of the Association to inform the problems of the members who are still waiting draw in the societies so that they can also move in their flats.  Bardhan also said that he will work for the repeal of the unreasonable laws like the seven year’s imprisonment for moving in the flat for which members have paid but only six month imprisonment in case of its unauthorized possession by any body else.  He was happy that the Dwarka is now well populated after the allotment of CGH Society which was earlier like a ghost town due to thin population.

Mahabal Mishra, MP of the area said that serving the public is his duty.  When he started supporting the waiting members of the CGHS’, he made it plane to the party that serving the residents of his constituency is his responsibility.  He said that he has adopted the way shown by Bardhan.  On his suggestion, Lt. Governor agreed for a meager penalty of Rs 1,000 only as the narrated the plight of the members before him.  He said that the real thank will be evident after three years indicating the next general election to the Lok Sabha.  He assured that he will continue to work for solving the problems of the members.
Aziz Pasha, MP who specially came from Hyderabad to attend the function said that the fight which was started few years back has been won and he will work for the change in the draconian section 108 of the Co-operative Societies as has been pointed out by Ashok Kumar, Convener.  Some other leaders who were present include D. Raja, M.P. Dinesh Varshnay, CPI, Ms. Amar Jeet Kaur, Secy. CPI, Atul Anjan from the CPI.

Mayor of Delhi, who could not attend the function and the media for their continuous co-operation for support for their cause.  He said that total 28 societies had to resort to the self-draw and hoped that the allotment in the left-out societies so far will be made soon.  He thanked Mathur Committee for recommending the regularization of the self-draw.  He said that though for his initiative, he faced the threat of 7-year imprisonment for alleged violation of co-operative Act but he was not perplexed as he knew that he is not doing anything wrong.  Kumar demanded that the office of the Registrar should be under the Lt. Governor instead of the Delhi Govt. and there should be a penal of Auditors, Administrators and Returning Officers to stop misuse. He informed that even some societies named Bharat Vandana, Apni CGHS, Raj Vihar, Diamond square and other had to go to the High and Supreme Court.
The function was held at Indraprastha School, Sector 10, Dwarka wherein the members and other residents participated in large number. .
