FUTURE OF DWARKA

Every new colony has its teething trouble and this we have seen with Janak Puri and Rohini too.  The same is the case with Dwarka Sub-city though its development has started a decade ago. Now, the Dwarka has come out of the shadow of Pappan Kalan and is in fast getting a place in the list of a reputed address in Delhi.  With many big markets apart from Local Shopping Centres, the sub-city is almost pollution free because of adequate green space without any factory. With well maintained wide roads, it is also jam free, barring a few spots.  Water scarcity has eased with the increase of water supply to 4.5 MGD for Dwarka and nearby areas and this problem will further be solved with the completion of Munak Canal and Water Treatment Plant which is expected by the end of this year. Mix population resides here and therefore it has variety of culture and no ego problem unlike in some high-fy colonies like Vasant Vihar and Kunj, Anand Lok or Safdarjung Enclave. Different Resident’s Welfare Bodies including Dwarka Forum, RWAs and Traders Welfare Associations, Vypar Mandals work in close co-operation and they are therefore effective too to take up problems of residents and traders.  Dwarka is now connected with all type of mode of transport namely Metro, Road and AIR and after the expansion of Bijwasan Station adjacent to Dwarka, the train connectivity will also increase.  From nearby Palam Railway Station, one can avail ring service for going to different parts in the capital.  Now, the population of Dwarka has reportedly touched to 6-lakh and it no more looks a barren area not properly linked with the main city unlike few years back.
In Group Housing Society, risk of theft or burglary with little care is almost nil and discomfiture on account of power failure because of power back up maintained by the Society.  Group Housing Society managed by the residents employs Electrician, Plumber, gardener, security guards and Dhobi and undertake annual maintenance like white wash and maintenance of common areas and therefore there is no tension to individual residents.  No rise of return of Dak as guards employed take deliveries of Dak and hand that over to us on daily basis. The parks inside the Societies are well maintained with swings etc and kids play before our eyes/ with safety.  Outside parks are also in good shape and in the process of improvement barring a few.
Many projects like development of phase II beyond sector 23, development of Dwarka Expressway and connectivity of NH-8 to Rohtak Road (NH-10), 750-bed hospital, many private hospitals, Bharat Vandana Park, multi-level parking, more local shopping and communities centres, sports complex and cultural centres are at the stage of execution and some will be completed in couple of month and years.  In due course of time, area is expected to buzz with more activities when more persons move in their flats after the pending allotment in Groups Housing Societies takes place.
Therefore, it can be concluded that though there are many problems as are with for any new area, yet its future in long term is bright and therefore the rates of properties here are competing with the some leading colonies like Vasant Kunj and Saket.  Dwarka’s fast development depends on the awareness of the Dwarkaites to make a follow- up of their problems with the civic agencies.
