DWARKA FIRE STATION CAN DOUSE FIRE AT HIGHEST FLOOR WITHOUT HYDRAULIC FIRE TENDER!

Dwarka Fire Station HAS ONLY 40% OF SANCTIONED STAFF

Without the hydraulic Fire Tender, Dwarka Fire station of is able to douse fire at the highest floor at Dwarka though the fire station has one ladder of 35 feet while the Dwarka has buildings up to 10th Floor or might be more. It might look strange but it is true if we go by the answer of the Delhi Fire Service dated 12.8.2010. Delhi Department has informed that “no such vehicle is available in Delhi Fire Service”.   Public Information Officer has informed to M K Gupta of Dwarka Forum that that Dwarka fire station has staff of 30 employees which is only 40 per cent of the sanctioned strength of 75. The break up of staff is as under:

Two more fire stations at Sector 20 and 3 each are also proposed but the Department has refused to inform their current status. Dwarka Fire Station has two fire tenders and one water bouser apart from other appliances. The Deptt. has merely said “No” to the query that in the absence of hydraulic fire tender, how the station proposes to douse the fire at the top floors of multi-storied buildings having ten or more floors?  In the telephonic discussion with Mr. Gupta, he said that the Societies in Dwarka have their own fire fighting arrangements and it is a different matter that these systems are intact or not. Total 12 employees have been provided accommodation at staff quarters located at the premises of the fire station which include one each of Asstt. Development Officer, Station Officer and Leading fireman.  Apart from this, 2 Drivers, 3 fire-operators and 4 firemen are also living in this complex who may be readily available in emergent situations.

The Dwarka Fire Station have very important role as the sub city with over 6 lakhs resides in DENSE HIGH RISE buildings, Numerous Metro Station and Close to IGI Aiport Air funnel.
The lack infrastructure must be addressed by Govt urgently .
Most important for CGHS Management.

We all know the condition of Fire Fighting system in our societies.

1. A good % don't have valid renewed NOC
2. More than 50% of Fire Extinguishers are EXPIRED or not working.
3. Most of the Hydrant Pipes were expired or the Nozzle were stolen (Brass items).
4. Most of the Fire Sensor were not working never tested.
5. Most of the Fir Alarm installed are without glass or connections.
6. The Main Control Panels in the Security Room or other location in respective societies found NOT working or Switched Off.
7. The guards and staffs have no training.
8. The Backup generator and Pumps for Water are hardly working nor tested.
9. The Water Reservoirs were not adequate.
10. LIFTS - the so called lift certificates are issued by ALIENS sitting in some Labour Department of Delhi Govt at some money -Another RTI needs.

The LIFT by some manufacturers are good but their rates are exorbitant and preventive service are negligent resulting major breakdowns and risk of life.

I think all residents/RWA/CGHS and activist must wake up.. We had some case few year back in some society an electrician died.

Guptaji, thanks for this digging using RTI as always.. We appreciate it will help us a lot provide if all our residents WAKE UP along with authorities.
