HAVE LOST THE PURCHASE BILLS, DON’T EXPECT FIR IF GOODS ARE STOLEN

If your belongings have been stolen and you have lost their purchase bills, don’t expect an FIR in case these are lost. The thieves need not be afraid now of any legal action after stealing such items in the absence of FIRs and can rest in peace.

Reportedly, six stereos were stolen from cars in DDA Pockets 1 and 2 of Sector 3, Dwarka. SK Aggrawal, a victim of the theft, says, “I went to the police station for lodging the FIR but police demanded bills of music system and other papers for lodging the FIR. I was quite surprised that even though footprints of the thieves were there on the seat, police did not do anything to trace them though they suspect the hand of insiders in the theft.”

Madhury Varshney, former general secretary of RWA and a social activist, says, “We are unable to understand why the police is not using the finger print experts or sniffer dogs for tracing the thieves. The security guards have already given the car numbers of the visitors of odd hours at night.”

Ajit Kumar, another victim, also repeats the same story. He finally had to give up the idea of registering the FIR and had to satisfy himself by lodging simple complaint instead. In the circumstances, he lost hope of finding his stereo.
