DDA FLATS – FINANCERS CORNER BIG CHUNK OF FLATS

Since the start of DDA Housing Scheme in 2008, the scheme has been mired in different controversies. In a startling revealition, Navbharat Times has mentioned that original allottees of general category are selling the flats to the dealers and financers on heavy premiums and the financers are depositing one time payment in the DDA though the amount can be paid in installment also. They are selling these flats in the open market after converting them freehold to free-hold.

In a joint investigation carried out by the Navbharat Times and a detective agency of Mr. Sanjeev Deswal as its Managing Director, investigators came to know that in Vasant Kunj, out of 795 flats allotted, possession of 60 flats had been handed over to the original allottees. Out of these 60 flats, property dealers are running their offices in a dozen of flats. The newspaper further state that after the flats are converted to free hold, the possession is being given to dealers instead of original allottees.

During an sting operation, one property dealer told that the DDA’s allotted LIG, MIG and HIG flats in 11 Lakh, 23 Lakh and 36 Lakh respectively but these are being sold in 30 to 52 Lakh, 55 to 62 and 70 to 80 lakh now which is more than double the price charged by the DDA. The Financers and Dealers assure the potential buyers for not worrying about DDA’s officials. Sleuths have recorded the discussion between them and the dealer posing as a potential buyer. Flats in Sector 23 and 28, Rohini are also being sold in this manner. The question is why the DDA does not restrict the sell of flats allotted by it for some years?
