DWARKA - RESIDENTS DEMAND PROPER SECURITY AND FACILITIES

A meeting of the residents of Dwarka was organized on Sunday, 21st Febrary which was also attended by the ACP, and SHO, Dwarka. On law and order situation, M.S. Randhawa, ACP informed that the incidents like snatching has come down by about 70% and the Police is working on putting more pickets and increase patrolling. He informed that the FIR on the forced snatching of gold chain and ring on 15th February from a senior citizen has been registered. Naveen Kumar, informed him that his laptop was snatched some time back and the FIR was registered after 14 days on his continuous follow-up. To this, ACP assured all co-operations in terms of the registration of FIRs.
On the demand of removal of encroachment, SHO instructed the staff to remove all temporary and permanently encroachments. He was informed that the residents do not make purchases from the unauthorized vendors and tea-sellers on encroached land but it is the labourers. SHO asked the residents to inform the MCD regularly for the removal of such encroachment, as it has the power. He also informed that the complaint against encroachment could also be lodged at PCR phone No. 100. Some residents also raised the issue of some restaurants, which are running openly on public utility areas of Manish Global mall in violation of all provisions. They also raised the safety issue and unhygienic condition created by such restaurants as the area near some restaurants is used for open drinking in the evenings.


The ACP asked the SHO to call the owner of the restaurant and ask him for adhering to the legal provisions. ACP informed that to prevent the open drinking near the wine shop of sector 20, the contractor has deputed two private guards and the police has also deputed some staff in addition to stationing the PCR from time to time.
On the complaints of theft of grills and other items from the DDA parks, ACP said that this is mostly being done accomplished by the drug addicts and asked the SHO to look in to the specific cases. On this occasion, Mr. Rejimon C K, President, Dwarka Forum informed the participants about the outcome of the meeting recently held with the MCD Commissioner, Shri K S Mehra. The participants has a unanimous view that the horticulture staff of DDA is found wanting as this is often found sitting ideal, sleeping and gossiping and whatever little work is undertaken, it was by the staff of contractors only. The guards deputed to protect them are not visible and the residents decided to write to DDA for starting bio-metric attendance system for ensuring their presence. They also demanded that the broken service roads of sector 22 should be set right. The demand for play ground for children was also raised to stop the misuse of gardens.
Concern over the lack of proper streetlight was also expressed and it was demanded that the new streetlights should be funded from the MLA Fund.
Mr. Rejimon asked the participants to go through the new routes of DTC buses prepared by the Shri Sunil Sareen of Forum and suggest improvements.
The Dwarka Forum has taken the lead in organizing the meeting of residents of sectors 22 and 23 on Sunday, 21st February at Classic Apartment, Sector 22, Dwarka, New Delhi.
