'NAMAN 1857" created a feeling of patriotism

Incelebration of 150 anniversary of first war of Indian independence in 1857, a Kavi Sammelan called 'NAMAN 1857" was organised at Sec. 11, Dwarka on Sunday, the 10th May. The prominent poets and poetess included Surendra Sharma, Om Prakash 'Aditya', Arun Jamini, Mr. Lajpat Rai Vikat, Ms. Sarita Sagar from Lucknow participated in this Sammelan. It was organised by Shri Shyam Navodaya Sanskrtik Sangh (Regd.) presided over by Shri Rajesh Gehlot, Councilor and Dy. leader of MCD. Poems recited by the poets were warmly appreciated by all the audiences. Ms. Sarita Sagar, emotional & patriotic compositions were specially lauded and she was given an award of Rs. 2,000/-. Her feelings were expressed in the following words "Kaha Rahe Alvida Daddawai Nain, 'O' Shahido Tumhe Mere so-so Naman". She expressed sentiments of widow of a martyrdom as follows
"Sarhadon par jo lahu unka gira, Ab wahi meri maang kaa sindoor hai,
Suhagan hoon mai, widhwa naa mujko kaho," Sister of a martyrdom passion were
"Laaj Raakhi ki Bhaiya Nibhakar Gaye, Haath Kya cheese hai, sar kakaa kar gaye,
Aakhari Saans taka jujhate hi rahe, jaan bhi haste-haste gavaa kar gaye".
There is no doubt that Nationalist poets of their times were the main driving force which led the revolution of 1857.
