Emotional Adieu to Ganesha

The week-long Ganesh Utsav celebrations in the sub-city, organised by the Maharastra Mitra Mandal, Dwarka, concluded with Ganpati visarjan at Hari Nagar lake. With visarjan, it was also a sad adieu to the euphoria and excitement of celebratory mood that reigned all through the utsav days. Amidst shrieks of ‘Pudhchya Varshi laukar ya'…….meaning come back soon next year, the idol was immersed on 23rd, Sunday. Before that, Puja was done at True Friends CGHS, the venue where the idol was installed. In the morning Satyanarayan puja and Maha Prasad was organised.

With much pomp and grandeur Ganapati Bappa was brought and installed at True Friends apartments, Sector-6, Dwarka on 15th September. The Maharashtrians are particularly passionate about Lord Ganesh and for them Ganesh Utsav is marked by an intense emotion. During utsav days, the Lord becomes family, to be worshipped with utmost love and devotion, before he is tearfully bid adieu. The festival celebrated by Maharashtra Mitra Mandal of Dwarka has definitely given a chance to Maharashtrians living in cosmopolitan Dwarka to go back to their roots and have a feel of their traditional culture, food and music. The Mandal successfully organized blood donation camp on 15th. Simultaneously exhibition of Uday Kulkarni, a renowned artist of Dwarka was also held which was inaugurated by Addll Commissioner of Police (Traffic) M.S. Upadhye. The utsav also served a platform for many talented people to showcase their attributes. Kasturi Attrawalkar, a resident of Dwarka captivated the audience by her melodious rendition of Marathi songs. The magic show on Wednesday was a complete hit amongst children. The venue was jam packed for the much awaited Kavi Sammelan organized by well known poetess Kirti Kale along with ten other poets. The kavi sammelan was enjoyed and appreciated by all. Vividha, an inhouse cultural programme of children was also a major attraction. All dances were choreographed by Chitra Vishwanathan. Children also enjoyed the play 'Tenaliram'. The interesting compering was done by Shashank and Divya.
